Allergy Diet and Maintenance Program for Patches
I am sharing my Allergy Diet for Patches to give you options that may help your pet. Quality and healthy nutrition is key to support your pet’s immune system.
As always work with your veterinarian or dermatologist veterinarian on your pet’s nutrition. It may NOT be allergies and they have the knowledge and resources to diagnose your pet’s condition. I suggest you printout a picture of the products and ingredients for your veterinarian to review of current or proposed products.
Current medications from my vet:
Cytopoint injection. Patches initial injection was Jan 2017 which provided him immediate relief from scratching. That first night he slept so peacefully and so did I. His second was between 6 – 8 weeks. This third was months later.
Medicated Shampoo. Used as needed to control bacterial and fungal issues on the skin. Used more often if Patches is having a flare up, less if he is not – per our veterinarian’s instructions.
Nutrition from pawTree:
Healthy Dog Food:
We were able to determine that Poultry products are not good for Patches. An interesting fact that I discovered before switching to pawTree is that if a dog food is Salmon flavored, that does not mean it is poultry free. pawTree has two (2) dog food varieties that are poultry free (Real Lamb or Real Trout). If your dog does not have a poultry allergy and you prefer grain free, there are 5 varieties to choose from (Real Chicken, Real Turkey & Sweet Potatoes, Real Turkey & Garbanzo Beans, Real Salmon, Real Duck). pawTree also offers 5 varieties of dog food with healthy grains (Real Chicken & Oatmeal, Real Turkey & Brown Rice, Real Chicken & Brown Rice, Real Whitefish & Brown Rice – poultry free, Real Trout & Barley – poultry free.
I also discovered prior to pawTree, that treats were nearly impossible to find that did not have unhealthy ingredients or contain poultry. pawTree’s treats are made with real meat, freeze-dried or dry-roasted with no fillers, no dyes, and no additives. There are 13 varieties of treats for both dog and cat. Below is the healthy treat Patches get to enjoy.
Healthy Digestive System:
Gastro Pro Plus is a natural and complete combination of probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes and soothing herbs. Maintaining a healthy digestive system is key to your pet’s overall health.
pawTree’s Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil contains a preferred 10:1 ratio of over 15 heart-healthy Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids. Omega 3 and 6 are “essential” fatty acids necessary for good health. Beware of farm raised salmon oil that may be fed antibiotics or a diet of fishmeal which can contain toxic chemicals. Salmon from farms may also be stressed so that the quality of the oil produced is degraded. Whereas, wild caught Alaskan salmon oil is from a highly sustainable area and caught in the wild in unpolluted waters and not stressed so that the quality of the oil is high.
Skin Support Plus is a topical spray that is easy to use and provides gentle, natural and immediate relief of itchy or irritated skin. A soothing blend of tea tree oil, aloe vera, and chamomile that does not sting their sensitive skin. Does not contain alcohol.
Healthy Immune System:
pawPairings Superfood Seasoning is not just for picky eaters. It contains one real meal protein, 8 fruits and vegetables, healthy antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to help support the immune system.
Allergy Support Plus contains the highest quality herbs known to support the body’s normal ability to combat skin-related issues associated with food and seasonal allergies. This highly effective product will relieve the itch and calm the skin so your pet can be comfortable.
